Christian Marriage

Posted by Katrina | Marriage and Relationship | Tuesday 6 January 2009 7:54 am

In fact, there are Christians who won’t marry unless they marry another Christian. During the 1960’s and 1970’s there were many interfaith and interdenominational marriages. During this era, people didn’t seem to care as much about their spouse’s denomination.

Today we are seeing a reversal of this trend. There are fewer and fewer interdenominational weddings and more marriages between Christians. These Christian marriages are taking place as couples are looking for common ground to base their relationships on. (It will be interesting to see in the coming years if the divorce rate of the Christian marriages is less than the general population.)

Finding your perfect mate is becoming more and more difficult. Divorce is on the rise and domestic violence is increasing. The hope among Christians is that by marrying another Christian, their chances of avoiding these common pitfalls will be reduced. And that even if they do experience problems in their Christian marriage later on, that they will be able to apply Christian principles to work things out.

Where Christians meet each other though, becomes an issue. After all, how can you have a Christian marriage if you can’t meet other Christians. This has led to a rise in the number of singles websites for Christians. These sites are aimed at Christians seeking Christians. You can meet other Christians at church, but some people don’t feel comfortable with this—they feel like they are dating at church. So Christian Singles websites fill this void. And meeting that perfect Christian can lead to Christian marriage.
